Press Release for Webster House Galleries

I’m thrilled to have 3 of my photographs in Webster House Galleries. They will be on display from May 30, 2013-August 30, 2013. Be sure to head on down to one of the events at the Gallery and stop by and take a look. Here is the official press release that went out about it:

Photographer’s Angels Land at Webster House Galleries: Klings & Things Angel Series Part of the Collection at St. Louis’ Newest Gallery

St. Louis, MO, June 2013–Christina Kling-Garrett, founder of Klings & Things Photography, secures space in Webster House Galleries for her three-photograph Angel Series. Staying true to Klings & Things’ foundational mission—to make art accessible and affordable—each of the three pieces are priced at $80 and will be on display through August 30, 2013.

“I am honored for my work to be featured in such a unique art space, created by such a visionary,” says Kling-Garrett. The visionary she is referring to is Webster House Galleries Managing Director, Maria Gianino, who opened the side-by-side venue in the Shrewsbury/Webster Groves area in March 2013.

Since its opening, the Gallery has featured themed, rotating art exhibits, showcased the work of local and national artists and craftspeople, and created a series of interesting classes and workshops.

Kling-Garrett is one of only three photographers currently showcased in the Gallery and one of only 20 artists highlighted throughout the space. After being exposed to Kling-Garrett’s entire portfolio, Gianino hand-picked the Angel Series to be featured.

“Angels are one of my favorite things to photograph because they represent comfort, hope, and peace,” says Kling-Garrett. “I was thrilled Maria picked these photographs because they are extremely versatile pieces, much like their interpretations.”

This is Kling-Garrett’s first gallery showing.  Individually titled “Prayer”, “Song”, and “Peace”, the Angel Series photographs highlight: a statue in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel at the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis; the “Angel Musician with Horn” sculpture by Carl Milles in the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis; and the “Angel of the Water” statue by Daniel French in the Boston Public Garden in Boston, MA, respectively.

“We are excited that the Angel Series is now in the Gallery; one of her pieces sold after just a week on display,” says Gianino. “Christina and I share a similar vision—to increase the public’s exposure to art in non-intimidating ways without pretense or pretension. I’m thrilled to count her among the artists we represent.”
